Hilton Head Island & the Low Country

Hilton Head Island is located near the southeast corner of South Carolina and is only a thirty minute drive to Savannah, Georgia.  Rte 278 extends from I-95 east to Hilton Head Island through the Town of Bluffton, South Carolina.  The Rte 278 corridor is the major connecting highway to the Island and the Town of Bluffton.  This corridor is currently experiencing tremendous commercial and residential growth of a magnitude unparalleled in this area before.

The major movement in growth is spurred by the reputation of Hilton Head Island as a four season resort that enjoys more than two million visitors per year and an ever expanding year-round population, now exceeding 32,000 residents.

It is reported that new home construction over the next decade in the immediate low country area will top 18,000 homes.  This expansion of the local economy is demanding the continued development of new roads, schools and support facilities for the new residents.  New roads, new schools and infra-structure are planned and some currently are under construction.  This is providing for our continued low unemployment below the national average and well below the South Carolina average.

Local, State & County Governments are deeply committed to sound planning to preserve the delicate ecology in this area that has enjoyed its wildlife, waterways, islands and marshes for hundreds of years.  The preservation of the ecological environment is of prime importance to all of us who have chosen this low country paradise as our home.
